Mass Effect 2 Free DLC Hits Today

Mass Effect 2 launched with a fair amount of DLC, most of which was free (strangely the in game method of attaining DLC wasn’t). Still, players were and are able to acquire:

  1. Blood Dragon Armor
  2. Terminus Assault Armor
  3. M-490 Blackstorm Singularity Gun
  4. Collector Armor
  5. Collector Assault Rifle
  6. Inferno Armor
  7. M-29 Incisor Assault Rifle
  8. Playable character: “Zaeed Massani”
  9. Mission: Normandy Crash Site
  10. Umbra Visor
  11. Sentry Interface
  12. Recon Hood
  13. Cerberus Network

Effective Today (February 9, 2010), BioWare is putting out two new DLC items – best of all they’re free and obtainable via the Cerberus Network

CERBERUS ASSAULT ARMOR:

  • Cerberus assault armor is designed for shock troops, turn the tide of battle against creatures or forces that would decimate normal soldiers.
  • Increases heavy weapon ammo capacity by +10%
  • Increases shields by +10%
  • Increases health by +10%

M-22a Evicerator Assault Shotgun

  • The M-22a Eviscerator Shotgun is a longer-range shotgun with armor-piercing loads. This design also violates several intergalactic weapons treaties, so the M-22a is not distributed to militaries.

Sometime in the future BioWare plans on some DLC missions, armor and weaponry that has not been identified. However two specific things have been named

  1. Playable character: “Kasumi”
  2. Usable vehicle: “Hammerhead”

The latter indicates that a future expansion to the game will have larger missions and multiple objectives that warrant an exploration / assault vehicle.

To obtain this armor and weapon you must have a “Cerberus Network” account. If you have that, you’ll be able to click on ‘New Content’ within the game which takes you to the DLC portion of the ME2 site. Look between the Normandy Crash Site mission and Zaeed Massani character DLC to see the “Cerberus Weapon and Armor” – there you go.
